This Summer, we have been working in local Primary Schools with parents and their children doing basic cooking and giving nutritional advice, as appropriate. Schools are identifying that cooking together is one area in which parents and children can not only interact but cook together in an unstressed environment. Many parents have indicated how valuable this has been to them because it gives them an opportunity to spend quality time with one of their children and in some cases a Mum has brought a different child to each workshop. Normally the workshops are in groups of 3 or 4 and last for around 3 hours (including breaks and tea!). The group sizes vary from 8 pairs (one parent and one child) to 14. They are aimed to be fun and informative providing a safe and relaxed atmosphere for all.
